The Northwest Arkansas Council (NWA Council) is a nonprofit organization that is hoping to cash in on the skills of tech experts, entrepreneurs, and others who think they can turn the northern portion of the Natural State into a crypto haven. The group is offering individuals large rewards of approximately $10,000 in bitcoin each if they are willing to come move to the area and devote their time and energy to establishing crypto and blockchain-based businesses within the region.

The website of the NWA Council reads:

Northwest Arkansas is experiencing explosive growth in the tech sector, specifically within blockchain-enabled technologies, and this incentive embraces the growing trend of cryptocurrency as a payment option by employers.

The news is solid in that it serves as further proof that the digital currency world is becoming far more mainstream and legitimate. More and more areas are looking to cash in on its growth and establish industry hubs which will no doubt further the bitcoin agenda we’ve all come to know and love.

The bitcoin rewards incentive is all part of a program that first began in 2020 known as “Life Works Here.” Funded by the Walton Family Foundation, the Northwest Arkansas Council was initially offering as much as $10,000 in fiat currency. Oddly, this didn’t seem to attract as many applicants as the group had hoped for. By switching from cash to bitcoin, the Council says that many more applicants have entered the fray, though if they prefer, they can still accept the reward in cash.

The website explains:

While we’ve had overwhelming interest in the initial incentive program, we’re continuing to seek out unique and in-demand talent in the STEAM and blockchain professions.

How to Take Part

Upon getting accepted, applicants must complete a series of steps to get their hands on the bitcoin rewards. First off, they must relocate to Northwest Arkansas, which includes both Benton and Washington counties, and they must do so within six months of their application date. From there, they must agree to either sign a one-year lease on a home or purchase property of their own.

In addition, applicants need to be a minimum of 24 years of age. They must have at least two years of work experience, live outside the state of Arkansas, and either be a U.S. citizen or have a legal right to work within the U.S. Aside from the bitcoin, the Council is looking to offer other rewards including bikes – so applicants can take advantage of the region’s many trails – or free memberships to local theaters and museums.
