On Wednesday, November 13, Apple lifted the cover off its new precious MacBook offering – the 16-inch MacBook Pro. The new MacBook Pro model comes with some heavily loaded hardware features seen for the first time on a laptop.
Besides introducing high-end machine hardware, one of the major changes to the latest MacBook Pro is its keyboard. Apple has finally decided to get rid of the controversial butterfly mechanism keyboard is used in the previous Macs.
Instead, the 16-inch MacBook Pro features the old and reliable scissor switches. Apple’s official announcement reads:
“Featuring a new Magic Keyboard with a redesigned scissor mechanism and 1mm travel for a more satisfying key feel, the 16-inch MacBook Pro delivers the best typing experience ever in a Mac notebook”.
The all new MacBook Pro features a 16-inch Retina Display, 8-core processing power, 64GB of RAM memory and next-generation graphics card. Additionally, the MacBook Pro features a six-speaker sound system, Touch ID, Touch Bar, longer battery life, Forced Touch trackpad and most importantly Apple’s T2 Security chip.
Tom Boger, Apple’s senior director of Mac and iPad Product Marketing said:
“Our pro customers tell us they want their next MacBook Pro to have a larger display, blazing-fast performance, the biggest battery possible, the best notebook keyboard ever, awesome speakers and massive amounts of storage, and the 16-inch MacBook Pro delivers all of that and more”.
But as we know, Apple’s MacBooks come with their own juicy price tag. The most affordable model for the 16-inch MacBook Pro starts at $2399. While if you move to the top-end specifications with all fully loaded features, the price goes as high as $6099.
At the $6099 price tag, the MacBook Pro hosts:
- 64GB 2666MHz DDR4 memory
- 8TB SSD storage
- AMD Radeon Pro 5500M with 8GB of GDDR6 memory
- 2.4GHz 8‑core 9th Gen Intel Core i9 processor, Turbo Boost up to 5.0GHz
Furthermore, the 16-inch MacBook Pro features Advanced Thermal Design with an effective heat management system. Apple calls it the “most advanced thermal architecture ever”.
“The sophisticated fan design features a larger impeller with extended blades along with bigger vents, resulting in a 28 percent increase in airflow, while the heat sink is 35 percent larger, enabling significantly more heat dissipation than before. Together, these advancements in cooling capacity allow the 16-inch MacBook Pro to sustain up to 12 more watts during intensive workloads than the previous design,” explained the company.
