Stephen Curry Becomes a Crypto Ambassador

In a statement, Curry explained:

I’m excited to partner with a company that demystifies the crypto space and eliminates the intimidation factor for first-time users. FTX is likeminded when it comes to giving back to the community in meaningful ways and I can’t wait to see what we can achieve together.

Both Curry and Brady will also be working with Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who has agreed to a post with the trading exchange. As part of their jobs, the sports players will be tasked with pushing the bitcoin and crypto agenda forward and bringing new account holders onboard.

It appears we have entered an era where many celebrities and sports figures are jumping onto the bitcoin bandwagon. One could say they are simply looking for endorsement deals to empower their already huge bank accounts and portfolios, though one could also say that this is positive news suggesting the crypto space is becoming more mainstream and legitimate.

One of the biggest sports-crypto stories out there has to do with Russell Okung, a former player for the Carolina Panthers. Okung was set to receive more than $13 million each year for his work with the team, though he later announced that he would be trading half of that money in for bitcoin. In a statement, Okung explained:

Money is more than currency; it’s power. The way money is handled from creation to dissemination is part of that power. Getting paid in bitcoin is the first step of opting out of the corrupt, manipulated economy we all inhabit. Bitcoin fans are not only disrupting the status quo; we are reclaiming power that is rightly ours.

This ultimately inspired other football players and sports stars – such as Sean Culkin of the Kansas City Chiefs – to do the same, though Culkin took things a step further and announced prior to getting cut by the team that his whole salary would be converted to BTC.

In a related story, sitcom star and Broadway actor Neil Patrick Harris recently signed on to become the new spokesman for Coin Flip, a cryptocurrency ATM company. Harris explained in an interview that he began investing in bitcoin when it was much cheaper, and he was excited to see what the future held for the asset.

What Are My First Steps?

Not long ago, Curry asked for advice from Tom Brady regarding getting started in the crypto investing scene. Brady jokingly responded with the following tweet:

Whatever you do… Don’t laser eyes!
