Recently, the British Association of Dermatologists (BAD) raised serious concerns about some vitals videos of people having full-face “hot wax” treatments on the TikTok app.

ByteDance’s TikTok was slammed with many complaints by a consumer group in the EU. According to reports, TikTok’s activities led to numerous complaints due to the breach of the bloc’s consumer laws and their inability to secure and protect children from concealed advertising and disturbing contents.

TikTok can boast a successful business and a quick growth of popularity across the globe explicitly among the youth. However, many incidents on the video-sharing app have brought some criticisms basically with its privacy and safety policies.

In the complaints, European consumer group BEUC quoted many issues on the app’s policies and, the terms of service. BEUC stated that a closer look proves they lack clarity and kind of favor TikTok with the users in mind. The copyright terms are so weak and provide TikTok the absolute right to use, distribute and reproduce the videos published by users. The app does not have any policy to protect children from concealed ads and very disturbing contents on its platform”, BEUC added.

TikTok Complaints All Over in EU

BEUC is not the only groups that filed a complaint about TikTok. Many consumer groups in about 15 countries have also notify the authorities to deal with issues on the app.

Recently, the British Association of Dermatologists (BAD) raised serious concerns about some vitals videos of people having full-face “hot wax” treatments on the TikTok app. The videos generally show people’s face, mouth and neck covered with softened resin with the resin slightly going into the subject’s ears and nose before removal.

According to the UK-based skin specialist, BAD, it is highly not recommended to try putting wax inside your nose and ears. That can cause serious health issues, they added.

BAD believes the TikTok app must immediately add a warning to such videos. BAD’s biggest concern is the way it can lead to many copycat incidents.

In January, ByteDance‘s TikTok found itself as part of the 59 Chinese apps permanently banned in India. The ban raised a concern that started of talks between ByteDance and Indian companies such as unicorn Glance. Per reports the secret talks are to sell-off ByteDance’s assets in India. Byt Dance in effect to the ban has brought down its operations in the country and exited.

However, ByteDance has since the search for a smart way to recover some local assets from the country. The good news is the Japanese multinational conglomerate holding SoftBank Group Corp that shows up consistently when tech matters arise supports both ByteDance and InMobi Pte which is a parent company of unicorn Glance. Therefore, the idea of gaining from some of the local TikTok assets again has successfully presented itself even though it seems the competitor Glance may get a bigger profit.
