It has become clear that celebrities haven’t learned a darn thing from Matt Damon and his appearance in a commercial for Crypto.com. Larry David Follows in Damon’s Shoes

The commercial with Matt Damon has allegedly rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. The star of films like “The Martian” and “Good Will Hunting” is seen making his way through chapters of history and discussing all the acts of bravery that have occurred over the past several years. At the end, Damon is heard saying “Fortune favors the bold,” and the name Crypto.com appears on the screen.

Many people seem to have taken this commercial as a weak advertisement. The idea is that one is not brave or bold unless they are willing to take risks by investing in crypto. This may not be what the commercial is saying, but there are several users on Twitter and other online platforms that have criticized the advertisement as coming off as snotty. Matt Damon and the exchange itself has been made fun of by several people and enterprises including “South Park,” which featured main character Cartman using the commercial as a tool to get his classroom riled up.

But as some analysts have said, there is no such thing as saying “no” to a paycheck. One can argue that Larry David is in this frame of mind given that he has appeared in a commercial for FTX, which is one of the youngest – yet most popular – crypto exchanges available today. The commercial aired for the first time during the Super Bowl last week and shows David playing historical versions of himself that are surprised when humans achieve big things such as inventing the lightbulb.

At the end of the commercial, the modern version of David is told that FTX is a good way for newbie customers to get into crypto. He responds with:

Eh, I don’t think so, and I’m never wrong about this stuff. Never!

The ad then says, “Don’t be like Larry,” and prompts people to get involved with the trading platform. Naturally, the ad has drawn criticism from social media users, with one person writing:

Larry David in a crypto ad is a pretty succinct answer to, ‘Is it ever possible to have enough money?’

Another said:

Not Larry doing a crypto ad…LARRY NO.

Not Everyone Is Happy

Lastly, a Twitter user posted:

Larry David being in a crypto commercial is the single most devastating thing to ever happen to me. Please give me space to process.
