Crypto Analyst Tone Vays Banned on YouTube

The largest video content sharing platform, YouTube, continues its clampdown on cryptocurrency-related materials. This time, one of the most popular analysts and well-known member of the cryptocurrency community, Tone Vays, received the bad news.

In a detailed Twitter thread, the analyst shared that he was banned by YouTube and that a video that he uploaded this morning was removed for being “harmful and dangerous.”

Very shortly after that, however, Vays said that his entire channel has been taken down.

“So that escalated quickly → from a single video warning to the ENTIRE CHANNEL being taken down by YouTube. If TeamYouTube can’t resolve this, might be a career change in the near future. Will just trade during the day & have a nutrition channel at night.”

What is more, the analyst voiced his concerns that he doesn’t believe any thorough review was carried out by YouTube’s team. He said that his channel “got taken down an hour after the initial warning and 30 minutes after my appeal.”

Vays is far from being the only one affected by YouTube’s actions. Some of the more popular names in the cryptocurrency field who also got their channels impacted include Chris Dunn TV, The Moon, Crypto Zombie, Ivan on Tech, and Nugget’s News.

The Purge Is Getting Serious

Unfortunately, this is becoming a serious threat to everyone who is involved in content creation and uses YouTube as a primary sharing platform.

Last year in December, the platform formally said that some of the actions were the result of a mistake on their side and that videos will be reinstated and strikes resolved.

However, it appears that these issues keep on taking place, and more and more people are getting affected by it. A lot of content creators rely on YouTube as a primary source of monetization of their content and, as such, are seriously impacted by the restrictions.

This brought up discussions among the cryptocurrency community of a distributed and decentralized content-sharing platform where no single authority will be able to take content out.
