At the time of this writing, Ayre hasn’t specified when the movie will be ready and out. A few of the details he has revealed include hiring the “professional team out of London” and digging through all information linked to the infamous Dr. Peter McCormack trial, in which Wright sued the popular cryptocurrency podcaster for 100,000 GBP for libel.
Wright: People Hate Me Because I Ruin Their Bitcoin Myth
Wright recently appeared in an interview titled “Bitcoin’s most hated man.” One of the central topics of discussion was somewhat expected – is he indeed the person behind the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto.
When asked why he chose to agitate the cryptocurrency community by making this bold claim, Wright simply said that this wasn’t his intention as he just wanted to be recognized for his creation.
He said that many community members believe that Bitcoin can make “the government stop taking your money.” However, Wright said that “Bitcoin doesn’t do anything like that. That is all mythology. So, these people hate me for the simple fact that I’m ruining their myth.”
“They [the community members] have produced this church of Satoshi. And I’ve come back, and I’m not what they want.”
He also went against Bitcoin HODLers who keep their coins and regard them as a potential store of value, instead of actually spending them as the white paper “he released” in 2008 says. Thus, they do not utilize the electronic peer-to-peer cash system idea and are not helping the network grow.
Wright also noted that Bitcoin can’t replace banks, as it “doesn’t provide loans, doesn’t provide mortgages.” After lashing out against most community members again, he said that he doesn’t regret creating Bitcoin. However, he does regret “not managing things properly from the start.” That’s why he has returned now to “make things right.”
