Brock Pierce Is Eyeing the White House
Pierce, a former child actor turned bitcoin enthusiast, says that one of his primary goals as president will be to ensure technology is used to push for the betterment of mankind. He says he will use technology only to help the public, not to instill fear. In a viral video announcing his candidacy, he states:
Technology should be embraced, not feared. If our government was using 21st century technology, all of those stimulus and unemployment checks would have been received by the people in need much sooner.
Pierce is talking about the $1,200 stimulus checks sent out to Americans making less than $75,000 a year. While the gesture has no doubt assisted many people who were down and out due to the coronavirus, several problems emerged from the package, including the potential for economic inflation.
Many figures, such as CEO of Tesla and SpaceX Elon Musk, decried the notion of simply printing money out of thin air to provide temporary aid for struggling citizens. One could argue that Musk, a billionaire, doesn’t quite understand just how big $1,200 can be for someone who’s out of a job, though many checks were mistakenly sent to deceased individuals and convicts. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) says it is now working to get that money back.
You’re A Little Late, Aren’t You?
But let’s talk about the biggest problem with this story… Timing. Let’s say that Brock Pierce is truly serious about running for president. Does he not realize how little time he has? Election Day for 2020 is scheduled for November 3. This means he has just under four months to establish a whole campaign team, raise the funds necessary to travel and hold rallies, and come up with a plan that he can apply to America over at least the next four years.
It can take a long time to get all this up and running, so why does Brock suddenly think he can do it in 3.5 months? The same thing can be said for Kanye. No doubt he’s ambitious and strong-willed, but candidates like Bernie Sanders and others who would have potentially been competing against Donald Trump for the role of commander-in-chief began their campaigns in early 2019… And guess what? Their campaigns went nowhere. July of 2020 is cutting it extremely close, to say the least.
