Twitter Is Fighting Members of the Crypto Community

Mike Dudas – a tech investor and founder of crypto analysis website The Block – claimed that Dorsey is in the process of” shadow banning” him. In other words, Twitter doesn’t have the guts to tell him face-to-face that he’s being banned, and that his tweets are not going out to the right people.

Instead, he has simply noticed that his messages are not reaching the breadths they once did, and that his followers are being left in the dark. He’s banned, but only slightly – not enough to be told about it formally. In a recent interview, he comments:

They’re doing it, people. Crypto Twitter has been shadow banned. I’ve noticed this on my account this week. Any tweets that I post get way less impressions than normal.

Several other members of the digital atmosphere that are heavily involved in crypto have issued similar complaints, and if what they say is indeed true, it wouldn’t be that out of the ordinary for a platform such as Twitter. The social media giant has a history of banning and blocking people it seems to just flat-out dislike.

For example, several conservatives and members of the Republican party in the U.S. complain that their tweets are either silenced or that there accounts are consistently blocked due to hateful content despite never issuing fighting words or anything that could be considered offensive. At the same time, Democrats that issue such material are often ignored.

Dorsey claims to be a big proponent of bitcoin. Recently, the social media mogul announced that he would spend anywhere between three to six months traveling the continent of Africa trying to bring bitcoin and its many properties to the peoples that live there. He’s also commented in the past that bitcoin is likely to serve as the world’s primary currency sometime within the next eight years.

So Much Incorrect Info

No doubt he seems to like bitcoin and has a lot of respect for it. Why, then, is he looking to ban or block people that are potentially involved with it? Do they present some sort of competition that he’s looking to avoid? What could be his motivation?

Despite all the love for bitcoin, Twitter does boast a fair share of misinformation about the world’s number one digital currency. At the time of writing, the platform is (and has been) plagued with numerous crypto scams, many of which also involve Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla and SpaceX. Hackers have often used fake accounts in his name as a means of getting their fingers on Ethereum and bitcoin funds that aren’t theirs.
