Bolsonaro COVID-19 Negative?

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro announced on his Facebook page that the coronavirus test he took came back negative.

The announcement came after a few media reports that claimed Bolsonaro’s first test for the virus was positive.

Earlier, the Brazilian president’s son Eduardo confirmed the initial test was positive. He took to Twitter on Friday to stress that his father has not yet completed testing for coronavirus, after confirming that the initial tests found him infected.

Eduardo wrote that there are “too much lies and little information.” Yesterday, media started reporting that President Jair Bolsonaro tested positive for COVID-19, which also sparked concerns that he could have transmitted it to United States President Donald Trump during their recent meeting at Mar-a-Lago.

“Coronavirus exam done with the team that was with JB in the USA have not yet been completed There are always those people who tell lies in the media and if the story is confirmed they say, “I told you!”, if not will be just 1 more fake news,” Eduardo’s tweet in English said.

However, the reports of Bolsonaro being infected sparked fears he could have transmitted the disease to his American counterpart, Donald Trump, as the two leaders met over the weekend.

Did Wajngarten Pass Coronavirus to Trump?

Earlier, media reported Brazilian government press secretary Fabio Wajngarten, who met with Trump over the weekend, was also diagnosed with COVID-19. Trump then said he was “not concerned” by the reports.

“We did nothing very unusual, we sat next to each other for a period of time,” he told reporters in the Oval Office, referring to Bolsonaro.

Also, the White House press secretary, Stephanie Grisham, said both Trump and Vice-President Mike Pence had “almost no interactions” with Wajngarten and therefore did not need to be tested themselves. Grisham cited the CDC when she said “there is currently no indication to test patients without symptoms, and only people with prolonged close exposure to confirmed positive cases should self-quarantine”.

She added:

“There is currently no indication to test patients without symptoms, and only people with prolonged close exposure to confirmed positive cases should self-quarantine.”

Does Trump Care More about Golf than about His People?

Some argue that the travel ban Trump announced two days ago has nothing to do with preventing the pandemic. If so, why did he left borders open for Brittons or Irish people? The UK is definitely not doing a “great job” in containing coronavirus compared with most of its European neighbours so it is pretty funny that Trump has golf resorts both in the UK and Ireland.

It seems like the US president is preoccupied with his investments throughout his time in office more than with helping to survive the pandemic.
