Renovi, a metaverse marketplace, and design studio has launched the first Non-Fungible Token (NFT) Buildathon in partnership with Aftermath Islands Metaverse Limited. As contained in a Press Release shared with Coinspeaker, the buildathon, dubbed the Next Top Metaverse Build will enable artists, architects, and entrants to create items that can have real value in the metaverse.
Coming off as the second of such competitions to date, the Buildathon will allow participants to win prizes of up to $50,000 as in-game assets, virtual land parcels, and a chance to sell whatever NFTs are created through the partnership with Aftermath Islands.
The competition will put no limitations on what entrants can create, and this could be as diverse as houses, retail spaces, clubhouses/venues, interiors, and wearables for avatars.
“This Buildathon is aimed at showcasing the Aftermath Islands metaverse and seeing what creators can build for it. We’re looking forward to seeing how innovative designers create their 3D buildings, wearables, or even furniture this time. This is the ideal opportunity to put their talents to the test,” said Adonis Zachariades, co-founder at Renovi.
Per the announcement, entries to participate in the buildathon will continue until January 9 2023, and the submissions will be judged by a panel of NFT and metaverse veterans. The judges include but will not be limited to Aftermath Islands’ Head of Technology, Gaming and Production, Rob Cole and Managing Director, David Lucatch; Renovi co-founder Adonis Zachariades; Hetal Patel from the Metaverse Group, and president of VRchitect Cherie Bowker.
The metaverse and NFT-linked innovations have been tagged as a new technology that can further bridge the gap between traditional finance and the emerging world of blockchain. Initiatives like the buildathon are essentially floated to enable creative minds to introduce use cases that can ease this blend of both worlds as best as possible.
Renovi and Aftermath Islands Buildathon to Help Create Social Peace
Riding on the premise that an idle mind is the devil’s workshop, the Renovi and Aftermath Islands Buildathon will help in bringing social peace as innovators can be engaged to harness their creativity and promote positive engagements.
“We are very excited to partner with Aftermath Islands and our participants to create the world’s first Metaverse Buildathon to support Aftermath Islands’ mandate of inclusiveness in the global online arena,” said David Lucatch, Managing Director of Aftermath Islands Metaverse and one of the judges for the buildathon, “By promoting an ecosystem of real users to reduce fraud and increase positive engagement, Aftermath Islands is helping to change the way people interact online and in new virtual spaces.”
By providing the right resources and technical expertise, this second round of the buildathon is likely to beat the records of the first which saw about 250 creators submitting as many as 160 entries. These winning entries will be added to Renovi’s special buildathon collection on the Aftermath Islands Marketplace.
