A long-awaited photo and video-sharing social networking service owned by Facebook, Inc., Instagram’s ‘Throwback Thursday’ finally saw the light of the day. The new feature is now a part of the new Instagram “Create” mode that launches today in Stories, and the app now works beyond the camera.

Create is a feature that makes Instagram a more ‘ubiquitous’ social network. However, be it as it may, this social network has the possibility to modify to a wider range of content formats.

As for now, the ‘main thing’ of Create is the “On This Day” option that is showing an arbitrary feed post that the user shared on the same calendar date in the past.

If you tap the dice button to view a different ‘On This Day post’, and you get one that you like, you can share it to Stories as an embedded post that people can then open.

The launch of this app will probably make users converting their old impermanent content into fresh ephemeral content – much more easier. To be truthful, not everyone does lead so interesting lives making Stories-worthy every day. And when you get to that, and when you ask yourselves how many #TBT throwbacks get shared already, it’s obvious that there is a demand for some kind of nostalgia with new commentary.

Instagram spokesperson said when asked about Create mode, that:

“This new mode helps you combine interactive stickers, drawings and text without needing a photo or video to share . . . On This Day suggests memories and lets you share them via Direct and Stories. It’d sure be nice if embedded On This Day video posts played inside of Stories, but for now you have to tap to open them on their own page.”

With the new ‘Create mode’, there’s also an ‘On This Day’ button that generates a post from the exact day in a previous year. It can also randomly move between different posts from different years. Adding to the new feature dubbed “On This Day,” the new Create mode includes the whole bunch of other new tools such as GIF formatting, suggestions for quizzes, polls, and countdowns, and much more.

For Instagram, the focus is on making it easier for their users to keep sharing things on the platform, even if they don’t necessarily have a new image to post.

As per Instagram, they’ve said:

“This new mode helps you combine interactive stickers, drawings and text without needing a photo or video to share. On This Day suggests memories and lets you share them via Direct and Stories.”
