TikTok, on the other hand, presents a newly represented application similar to Dubsmash. Dubsmash is a video messaging application for iOS and Android. Using the application, users can choose an audio recording or soundbite from movies, shows, music, and internet trends and record a video of themselves dubbing over that piece of audio.
Live-Streaming Sensation
TikTok, known as Douyin in China had in June 2018, announced that it made up to 500 million monthly active users across 150 countries. This is also the first app after WeChat that became viral in a short time. TikTok was presented as the China’s live-streaming sensation and it was fueled an unprecedented boom since 2016 for some Chinese social media platforms.
Be it as it may, most of TikTok users belong to Generation Z. Statistics show that 8.2 million TikTok users are girls and women which is more than male users that are 6.1 million.
Snap Chief Executive Officer Evan Spiegel said that TikTok could become bigger than its rival Instagram.
It was mentioned earlier that the Chinese social media firm has no plans to sell part or all of its app. TikTok chief Alex Zhu said:
“From time to time you may read stories in the media that are not true. Today there is an inaccurate report claiming that ByteDance has considered selling part or all of TikTok. We went on the record saying it was not true, but they decided to publish it .”
He added:
“I want to assure you that we have had no discussions with potential buyers of TikTok, nor do we have any intention to.”
Be it as it may, TikTok could really make a difference. Snap’s Evan Spiegel said he loves TikTok when talking on the “Bavaria” stage at the annual Digital Life Design Conference in Munich. He added he is a big fan as well.
He said:
“It’s possible TikTok could become bigger than Instagram.”
So, let’s wait and see. That’s the only thing that can be done.
