Having begun as a Twitter Inc. project before a spin-off in 2021, Bluesky gained some traits similar to the Elon Musk-owned social media giant Twitter. Reportedly, Bluesky has a small community consisting of about 25k users.

Despite having most of its traits similar to Twitter, it is worth noting that Jack Dorsey-backed Bluesky has some limitations including the direct messaging feature. Additionally, Bluesky users will not enjoy the same number of followers recorded on other established social media platforms like Twitter.

The Twitter-alternative social media platform announced the development of AT Protocol to provide users with unique interactive features. Among the notable features include account portability to allow users to move their accounts from one provider to another seamlessly.

The AT Protocol by Bluesky supports an algorithmic choice to dictate what the users see and who they interact with. The Bluesky social media platform is hiring for software developers positions including React Native expert among others and supports full-time remote capabilities.

Jack Dorsey-backed Bluesky to the World

The launch of the Bluesky social media platform has attracted huge attention due to its backing and decentralized nature. During its satellite content back in 2021, the platform awarded winners $300 in Bitcoin and participants were awarded additional NFTs. The use of digital assets significantly demonstrated how far the social media platform is willing to push on the decentralization of content.

“We believe decentralization is a means to an end. The end goal is to provide choice to users, freedom to developers, and control to creators. The AT Protocol is a fresh start for social because it creates a composable ecosystem where the convenience and scale of centralized services can be combined with the openness and resilience of decentralized protocols,” Bluesky CEO Jay Graber noted in a blog post.

Currently, the Bluesky team is working on moderation features to help users get desired content. According to Graber in a recent big post, the Bluesky application could tap on third-party providers in regard to content moderation. Additionally, the social media protocol intends to automate content moderation, similar to centralized social media like Twitter.

Nevertheless, the Bluesky app noted that community labeling is underway as automated filtering of content gets rolled out to beta users.
