Uhive is a social media application that aims to create significant disruption by placing the user’s privacy at its very core. It aims to give back a substantial share of the revenue, while also introducing a new UX for content discovery.
Users will have the option to communicate publicly or to try on a new identity and interact with one another anonymously and entirely privately.
What is Uhive?
Uhive brings forward a social media app aimed at placing users’ privacy in their hands. They have come up with a revenue-sharing model that rewards the content that users publish with an impactful percentage.
The application launched its beta version over one year ago on Google Play and the iOS App Store. For the past 12 months, the team has invited thousands of creative and productive social media accounts to start publishing content and create profiles.
It has over 100,000 signed users who are actively using it. As such, the team has decided to launch it publicly, and it is now eight weeks since the launch of its beta version. It currently boasts over 2 million posts, and it’s available on both Google Play and the App Store.
Uhive Spaces
Users on Uhive can create their own spaces which act as their personal profiles. Alternatively, they can also create interest-based profiles that they can share with the world or with their own network of friends and family.
Everyone can create one free space within one of the 26 interests, meaning that each user can produce up to 26 free spaces.
Apart from the free spaces, users can also buy additional spaces using the platform’s native Uhive token. Later, they can sell them or rent spaces based on their levels of engagement, virtual location, and so forth.
VR Finds A Place Too
An exciting addition to the platform is virtual reality. According to the website, VR supports a more altruistic and empathic understanding toward one another, and this currently lacks in existing social media platforms.
This integration allows for greater human connections, and it will enable users to interact with content differently.
How To Get Rewarded?
One of the most user-attractive features of the platform is the reward mechanism. According to the team, every minute that users spend on Uhive, they earn tokens. Moreover, they are supposed to earn tokens by creating new content, liking, or even disliking some other posts, writing comments, or reposting.
The native cryptocurrency is called Uhive token. Users who use the application daily for seven consecutive days will see their earnings doubled on that day. Those who use it consecutively for 14 days will see them tripled, and so far, until the multiplier reaches a factor of x4.
In any case, Uhive seems like an exciting initiative, especially now that major centralized platforms such as YouTube have started to censor cryptocurrency content producers. Of course, it has a long way to go, but it appears as a step in the right direction.
