Microsoft has officially revealed a few details about the new next-generation Xbox model, the Xbox Series X. During the recent Game Awards, the company officially announced the name and the design for the console, with some information but not as much as gamers and analysts would have preferred.

From pictures, gamers should expect the Xbox Series X design to look next to nothing like previous Xbox consoles. Regardless, Phil Spencer, the current executive vice-president of Gaming at Microsoft and the head of Xbox, has revealed details about the new console’s speed. According to him, the Xbox Series X is designed to “deliver four times the processing power of Xbox One X in the most quiet and efficient way.”

There are also a few details about the new console’s speed. The Xbox Series X is designed with a CPU powered by Zen 2 and Radeon RDNA microarchitecture, from AMD. The company has also sped up the amount of time processes take to load by including the NVMe SSD. Further details on the graphic power and display include up to 120 frames per second (fps) for its games, as well as ray tracing for better lighting, and shadows, and in-built support for 8K display.

Before now, there have been reports, however, unconfirmed by Microsoft, that 2020 will see the release of two new Xbox consoles and not just one. If the rumors are true, then Xbox Series X is the first of both and a new one should probably be expected. The rumors, however, have it that the second one would be somewhat less powerful and a lot more affordable than the first, meaning that if there will be a second one, it should cost less. While Microsoft didn’t confirm or deny this at the event, the “Series” in the name of the new announcement easily tells that there would be at least one more. The Xbox Series X is expected by holiday 2020.

Spencer recently spoke with GameSpot where he gave further details, comparing the new Xbox Series X with the Xbox One and the Xbox One X. He said:

“We wanted to have a dramatic upgrade from the Xbox One base console. So when we do the math, we’re over eight times the GPU power of the Xbox One, and two times what an Xbox One X is.”

In an official publication, Microsoft has also announced a new Xbox Wireless Controller. According to the company, the new controller has been designed in such a way that more people would be more comfortable enjoying the game. The controller will feature a “Share” button that will allow gamers to take screenshots or even short clips, during gameplay and it will come with the Xbox Series X, and also support the Xbox One as well as Windows 10 computers.

Microsoft stock (MSFT) is currently trading just a little above $151 with a 24-hour range of $151.02 – 153.44. It’s also worth mentioning that since the beginning of the year it has grown significantly as it started the year at the level of around $100.

Analysts are quite bullish on the stock as Microsoft makes specific moves to soar, especially with its buyback program as well as Azure, the cloud computing division. Last quarter, Azure’s year-over-year sales growth hit 59% and is still predicted to go higher.
