Brock Pierce’s Presidential Race

In a somewhat interesting turn of events, the co-founder of EOS Alliance and a well-known figure in the cryptocurrency field, Brock Pierce, announced that he will be running for President of the United States.

The news was also shared in a press release, which details that “Brock Pierce announced his candidacy for PResident of the United States, running as an Independent in the November 3rd, 2020 Presidential election.”

Speaking on the matter, Pierce said:

“I’ve spent my life creating great things from nothing and I can help others do the same. […] Entrepreneurs are essential to the rebuilding of this nation that we love, and I’m running in the race because I know that together we can help build a pathway towards the rebirth of the America we love so much.”

Pierce also referred to an official website that provides further information on who he is and what he has done so far.

It’s worth noting, though, that besides listing all of Pierce’s achievements, the site doesn’t mention any information on what his political agenda is.

At the time of this writing, Pierce isn’t included in the list of candidates who have filed with the FEC to run for president, according to Ballotpedia.

Another One Joins the Presidential Train

Pierce is not the only cryptocurrency aficionado to put his name forward for the 2020 Presidential Elections. John McAfee, a well-known tech entrepreneur and crypto proponent, already gave up, after declaring that he plans to run his campaign from a boat.

It’s hard to decide who of the two is the more controversial, though. John McAfee, who has been open about him not paying taxes in what’s now almost eight years, is also constantly sharing bits of his private life, including video excerpts from strip clubs and whatnot.

Brock Pierce, on the other hand, has reportedly been involved in quite a lot of controversies himself. In fact, popular English-American political commentator and television host John Oliver did a section that included Brock Pierce and urged people to do a Google search on “Brock Pierce scandal,” which returns some very questionable results.

Soon after that, EOSIO published a post on Medium, saying that they’ve “came to a mutual agreement that Brock would end his role at Block.one as he transitions to independent community building and investment activities,” while also acknowledging Pierce as an “early advisor” to the company.

In any case, it remains interesting to see whether Pierce will really go through with a campaign for the elections or if his efforts will end as fruitless as those of McAfee.

It’s also worth noting that Kanye West, a pop-culture juggernaut, has also tweeted about running for POTUS.
