Yesterday, Hard Rock Stadium in Miami was the venue of the Super Bowl, the most important sporting event in the U.S. In this game, the championship teams from the American Football Conference and the National Football Conference face each other to determine which team is the best in the National Football League. Super Bowl 2020 became the sixth Super Bowl that took place in Miami Gardens. Patrick Mahomes, Tyreek Hill, and Travis Kelce led the Chiefs, while top 49ers players included Jimmy Garoppolo, George Kittle and Raheem Mostert.
Super Bowl 2020 had so grandiose halftime show that some believe it is the best in years. The show began with Yolanda Adams performing “America the Beautiful”. For a rendition of the patriotic song, Adams invited The Children’s Voice Chorus, a local youth vocal group from Miami. Further, Demi Lovato performed the National Anthem.
Shakira and J.Lo Inflamed the Super Bowl 2020 Stage
But the greatest moments of the show were those when Shakira and Jennifer Lopez performed.
Before Super Bowl 2020 started, Jennifer Lopez told Shakira:
“Let’s show the world what two little Latin girls can do.”
And they showed, surprising by the audience by singing and great professional choreography.
Both Shakira and Lopez focused on their biggest hits. Shakira performing “She Wolf”, “Empire,” and a reggaeton remix of “Whenever, Wherever.” Further, she sang her Spanish-language smash “Chantaje,” during which recent Grammy nominee Bad Bunny interspersed lines from his own single “Callaíta”. Then, the audience heard a spirited version of “Hips Don’t Lie,” after which Shakira dove into the mass of screaming fans.
As for Lopez, she opened her performance with a funky remix of “Jenny From The Block”. In addition, she surprised by her 2000s hip-hop hits “Ain’t It Funny” and “Get Right.” Dozens of dancers joined Jennifer onstage while “Waiting For Tonight” just before Grammy nominee J Balvin opened with his Diplo collaboration, “Que Calor,” remixed with Lopez’s track “El Anillo.” As Balvin began his “Mi Gente,” Lopez joined with 2001 hit “Love Don’t Cost A Thing.”
Notably, the Latina singer got political. Lopez draped herself in a feather cape that looked like both the U.S. and Puerto Rican flags. This was a dig at the Trump administration’s handling of aid for the island after it was devastated by two hurricanes in 2017. Many approved bringing awareness of the humanitarian crisis at the Southern border. By the way, previously, Lopez donated $1 million in proceeds from her Las Vegas residency to the relief effort.
Above all, Jennifer’s 11-year-old daughter Emme Maribel Muñiz sang the club hit “Let’s Get Loud”. Emme also sang the chorus of Bruce Springsteen’s “Born In The USA”.
How Much Did the Stars Earn?
The performances at Super Bowl usually last around 13 minutes. However, those performing do not receive money for these 13 minutes. Instead, most artists recognize the professional value of commanding the Super Bowl’s massive audience. Besides, for some performing at Super Bowl is a personal goal.
Yes, the production costs and expenses were covered. But that’s it. So, if you are wondered how much the starts earned. You should know that the sum is equal to zero.
But Super Bowl performance can get other bonuses. For example, in 2017, after Lady Gaga headlined the event, her total album sales jumped by an incredible 2000%. And her newest album “Joanne” saw a 1552% increase.
