The Volkswagen ID7 is not only appealing as a high-performance electric vehicle, but it is also one that is built to be largely affordable, compared to current market alternatives.

According to the description of the vehicle by the company, the ID7 is branded as the very first Volkswagen product that comes with a new display and operating concept.

Designed for performance and elegance, the ID7 can cover a range of 700 km when fully charged, a feature that showcases the strength of its battery technology. This longer range is made possible with the combination of excellent aerodynamics and a new, more efficient drive generation that ensures long ranges.

Electric vehicles are becoming the next sensation in the auto industry around the world. With the switch to sustainable fuel consumption heating up around the world today, automakers are pivoting into this segment, further expanding the competition across the board. While the sales of gasoline engine-powered cars are still largely a prominent thing today, most car makers are determined to make a gradual switch to electric vehicles within the next few decades.

“The ID.7 sets new efficiency standards on the basis of the modular electric drive matrix (MEB). We are aiming for a range of up to 700 kilometres in accordance with WLTP. This is made possible by very good aerodynamics and by significantly increased efficiency in the areas of the powertrain and thermal management,” said Kai Grünitz, a Member of the Volkswagen Brand Board of Management responsible for Development.

The vehicle is equipped with 210 kW (286 PS), making it the most powerful and highest-torque electric drive motor in a Volkswagen ID. model so far. The car is billed to get into the market in the autumn of this year in China and Europe while American customers can get access to the car in 2024.

Volkswagen ID7: Complement Performance and Low Cost

The Volkswagen ID7 is not only appealing as a high-performance electric vehicle, but it is also one that is built to be largely affordable, compared to current market alternatives.

“With the ID.7 we are taking the next step in our electric offensive. The limousine offers a high level of comfort and long ranges,” said Thomas Schäfer, CEO of Volkswagen Passenger Cars, adding that “already by 2026, we will offer the widest electric range of all manufacturers in Europe – from the entry-level model for less than 25,000 euros up to the ID.7 as the new top model within the ID. family. Our goal is to achieve an electric car share of 80 percent in Europe by 2030. As from 2033, Volkswagen will produce only electric vehicles in Europe.”

The proposed low cost of the ID7 will enable it to penetrate the market owing to its affordability. Possibly, Volkswagen will help redefine the cost of EVs that can challenge other automakers to lower prices, and help drive a wider user base for the cars.
