Darrell “Bubba” Wallace’s name came out after becoming part of the Confederate symbols removal line of events in the US last month. In June, NASCAR officials informed that the Confederate battle flag will be banned from a number of their events. The decision came amid the national protests against racism, white supremacy, and police brutality in the country.
The announcement came out two days after “Bubba” Wallace became the first black driver to win one of the top three national series in 50 years. After his win in June, he asked NASCAR to stop displaying the Confederate flag on its events and races
“No one should feel uncomfortable when they come to a NASCAR race. “So it starts with Confederate flags. Get them out of here. They have no place for them.”, said Wallace after his win.
Interestingly enough, as evident in Jack Dorsey’s tweet, Bubba’s car displayed logos of Bitcoin, as well as labels of Square’s Cash App.
Bitcoin Awareness And Sports
The world’s leading cryptocurrency has been displayed on various sports events and team apparel rather frequently in the past.
In 2019, the major English football club Watford FC also put the BTC logo on their Premier League players’ jersey shirts. The famous “B” sign was a result of the football club’s partnership with a Bitcoin betting platform.
Watford FC also announced they are trying to bring even more awareness to BTC, and will accept the cryptocurrency as a payment method for a number of merchandise purchases.
In 2014 Reddit’s NASCAR community members and fans donated more than $55,000 in Dogecoin, so that driver Josh Wise could compete at the Talladega Superspeedway NASCAR race. His car was themed entirely in the cryptocurrency’s logos.
